Welcome to Orange County, California! Let’s eat some vegan food!
I have been to many of these restaurants myself, but because we are so fortunate to have so many vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants around here, I still haven’t gotten to all of them yet! If you have any photos and/or reviews of the dishes at the restaurants below, I’d be grateful if you shared them with me to add to the post! Messaging me on Instagram (@happiestveganonearth) is the quickest way to contact me.
I tried to keep it within approximately 15 miles of Disneyland, and listed the closest restaurants toward the beginning. The ones in Long Beach and Newport Beach are a bit further out, but the others are a quick Lyft or Uber ride away, if you’re visiting from out of town without a car.
Below, I’ve marked each restaurant as fully vegan (v), or vegan-friendly (vf), the latter meaning that they have many vegan dishes and that I consider it worth visiting as a vegan.

Healthy Junk
- 100% vegan
- 2 Locations (both in Anaheim):
- 201 Ctr St Promenade (Center Street)
- 440 S Anaheim Blvd 209B (Packing House)
- Center Street Menu
- Packing House Menu
This, along with Vegan Pizza, Saigon Vegan Restaurant, and Kensho, is really in the top tier of vegan restaurants super close to Disneyland in my opinion!
Both locations of Healthy Junk are in Anaheim, and they’re only a few blocks away from each other. The menus are quite different from each other, so you can choose which one to go to based on what you’re in the mood for!
The newer location in the Packing House has a pizza oven, so I’ve been going there for pizzas lately! Their Chorizo Olé pizza is my absolute favorite and I believe I’ve had it 4 times in the last couple of months since this location opened!
The Packing House location also has pasta, salads, burgers, subs, tacos, desserts, kombucha, juices, etc! I’ve got my eye on some of the pastas for next time I go, like the Spaghetti and Meatballs:
The Center Street Promenade location’s menu has nachos, chili cheez fries, tacos, salads, brats, hot bowls, wraps, burgers, desserts, juices, etc. My personal favorite is the Anaheim Chili-Pepper Burger, which is made with a Beyond patty, chez, fried chili peppers, Sriracha Sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato:
I also really love their Yam Wedges and BBQ Bowl:
Thuyen Vien
- 100% vegan
- 1740 S Euclid St. Anaheim, CA 92802
- Menu
This place is hidden gem just a couple of blocks from Disneyland! If you love Pho like I do, you’ll enjoy this little mom-and-pop restaurant. For some reason I don’t have any photos of my own from the times I’ve been there, but here is one from their Instagram:
In addition to Pho, they have all sorts of Asian fusion vegan dishes with noodles, rice, plant-based meats, etc.
Vegan Stops
They’re an all-vegan Mediterranean restaurant on Harbor Blvd, 2 miles south of Disneyland!
They have been doing Farmers Markets in Orange County for the past 3 years, and just recently opened the restaurant on Harbor for pick up and delivery.
You will also still find them at various OC Farmers Markets – check their Instagram for current schedule and menus.
They invited me to try a bunch of their dishes, a few of which you see here!
Lentil Kabob: Lentils, Bulgur Wheat, Onions, Black Pepper, Sea Salt, Tomatoes, and Green Peppers. These were so good!! Savory and satisfying, and the rice was nice and fragrant as well.
Fava Bean and Veggies: Fava Beans, Onions, Tomatoes, Parsley, Cold Press Lemon Juice, Sea Salt, EVOO. This one was probably my favorite of what I have tried so far! Something about the beans and the lemon juice, it’s just *Chef’s Kiss* Hearty and refreshing at the same time.
Okra Stew: Fresh Okra, Cilantro, Tomato Sauce, Garlic, Black Pepper, Sea Salt. If you like okra, you’ll be a fan of this one! Since I lived in Tennessee for 5 years, I developed quite a relationship with okra, so I really enjoyed this one.
Tabouli Salad: Bulgur Wheat, Parsley, EVOO, Tomatoes, Onions, Lemon Juice, Sea Salt. Of course this one is a must for the full Mediterranean experience!
Potato Salad: If you watch my Instagram stories, you know how important potatoes are in my life. I love potatoes in all of their forms! This potato salad is nice and creamy without being too heavy. Love all the herbs and tomatoes in it as well.

Don Churros Gomez
- Has vegan options
- 1440 S. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, Ca. 92805 (in the Anaheim Marketplace)
- Menu
I haven’t been here yet, but from the website, it looks to me like the all the churros are vegan, but they have an optional ice cream topping, which means the place isn’t 100% vegan, but the churros are!
Golden Road Brewery
- Has vegan options
- 2210 E Orangewood Ave, Anaheim, CA 92806
Golden Road has an extensive list of vegan options, so I actually did an entire blog post to cover them. You can head over to that post to learn more!
Blaze Pizza
- Has vegan options
- 1800 S Harbor Blvd, Ste 102, Anaheim, CA 92802
- Menu
Blaze is a pizza chain that has a location on Harbor Blvd, just on the corner with Katella there, so it’s super walkable from the park.
I’ve never been there myself, but they have vegan cheese and a vegan meat (chorizo), so you can build a nice vegan pizza there. They are super clear on the menu with marking what’s vegan (they even mark the crusts vegan — the high rise and original doughs are vegan), so I really appreciate that!
If you’re willing to go a travel more blocks though, I would definitely recommend Vegan Pizza in Garden Grove (see below), since they are all-vegan and have a lot more options. But if you want to stay in this location right next to the park, Blaze has a solid vegan pizza to offer!
Garden Grove
Saigon Vegan Restaurant
- 100% vegan
- 10522 McFadden Ave, Ste F G, Garden Grove, CA 92843
- Menu
Formerly known as Inner Peace Café, and now Saigon Vegan Restaurant, this might be my favorite restaurant of all time. Hot noodle soups with all the fixin’s are my soulmate, so of course that includes Pho, but also the other amazing soups they have here. Below is the Bun Rieu: rice noodle soup with vermicelli noodles, tomatoes, fish cake, oyster mushroom, tofu, green onion, fried onion and Vietnamese ham topped with cilantro:

And this is the Bun Bo Hue:

Both are amazing and I would absolutely get them again. There are so many other delicious looking things on the menu though, it’s going to take me a while to get through them all! I’ve also had this Red Wine Stew and it was excellent:
Most recently I had this Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, which is a BBQ noodle bowl with vermicelli, egg rolls, grilled bean curd, shredded pork, green onion, and fried onions. topped with pickled carrots, bean sprouts, and mint leaves. Just like everything I’ve had here, it was excellent:

Also had the Crispy Tofu last time:

And the Thai Tea:

Vegan Pizza
- 100% vegan
- 12022 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92840
- Menu
This place is iconic for a reason! In addition to their gourmet pizzas with lots of choices of veggies and their house-made plant-based meats for toppings, they also have corn dogs, chili cheez fries, buffalo wings, calzones, pastas, and desserts.
The Thai Spicy Pizza is my favorite by far! I get it over and over. Here is a photo from one of the many times I’ve got it:

The calzones are amazing as well!
I’m a big fan of the Cheezy Garlic Breadsticks as well:

I’ve had the corn dogs as well before, and they really hit the spot! I hope one day that we can get their vegan corn dogs to be sold in Disneyland!
Hug Life
- 100% vegan
- 14241 Euclid St, Ste C115, Garden Grove, CA 92627
- Hours: Daily, 12pm-11pm
- Menu
This is another iconic vegan OC spot! They now have three locations — the address above is for the one in Garden Grove, and you’ll see below that there is one is Orange as well, as well as Long Beach.
I’ve been here a few times and loved all the flavors I’ve tried!
Below is the Rocky Road:

Below is the Green Goblin flavor (mint chip!)

Below is the Vietnamese Coffee flavor, please excuse the after-dark lighting:

They also do milkshakes, floats, ice cream sandwiches, and sundaes!
I highly recommend the S’Mores Milkshake that I got last time!

Also, look at this sundae below!!
Here is a look at what was in their ice cream case during December 2020:

Loving Hut
- 100% vegan
- 12050 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92840
- Menu
This is a chain with many locations; in this post I’m mentioning the ones in Garden Grove and Orange (below). I’ve only been to this one in Garden Grove before, and it was very tasty! Every location has a unique menu, so you’ll see very different dishes depending on what location you’re at.
This location in Garden Grove has a variety of Asian fusion dishes with veggies and plant-based meats, rice entrees, salads, noodle dishes, and also tacos, burgers, and sandwiches.
It is located right next door to Vegan Pizza, just a few blocks south of Disneyland.
I’ve had this Tangy Orange Chick’n before and it was super tasty!
Here is their Bun Hue soup:
And here is their Mi Kho and Golden Rolls:
7 Vegan Market
- 100% vegan market!
- 12048 Chapman Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92840
- Same parking lot as Vegan Pizza, Loving Hut, and Sub Vegan
Imagine going grocery shopping and not having to read any labels, just picking up what looks good!! That is how it is at 7 Vegan Market. Pure magic!
There is a similar vegan market up in LA, Besties, but now we have one down here in Orange County as well!
Sub Vegan
They are currently (August 2021) still in a soft opening phase, but they are adding more to the menu every day! As of now, they only have a couple of subs. But keep your eye on their menu on their instagram to see how they are progressing!
Hoa Sen
- Vegetarian restaurant, make sure to verify before ordering which items are vegan, since they do not appear to be marked on the menu
- 12180 Brookhurst St, Garden Grove, CA 92840
- Menu
This is a Vietnamese place I have not been to yet, but the menu looks amazing! They have great Yelp reviews.
I wasn’t able to find their Instagram to get photos for you, but there are some on Yelp if you click through the to link above! It looks like they have a variety of noodle soups, rice entrees, hot pot dishes, etc. with plant-based meats and veggies.
Soy Good
- 100% vegan
- 12192 Brookhurst St, Garden Grove, CA 92840
- Menu
This place has a bunch of flavors of vegan boba with soymilk, soy pudding, tofu snackers, soysicles, and fresh housemade tofu blocks.
Below is the Cha Phe Soy, which is soymilk, coconut condensed milk, phin-dripped coffee, and brown sugar. Here it is pictured with boba added:

This one is the Purple Marble (Taro soymilk, taro paste, soy pudding, coconut sago) with boba added:

This is the soy pudding with pandan syrup and added boba:

These are the tofu snackers with the 2 sauces that they come with:

And of course I love their fresh housemade tofu as well!! So much better than what you get from the grocery store!!

These two are the Lemongrass-Chili, and they also have Mushroom-Onion-Vermicelli and plain tofu bricks.

And here are some of their soysicles! They are popsicles made of soymilk and they are amazing!
This one here is the matcha flavor:

This is the taro flavor:

And this one is the Cookie Butter Oreo:

Westminster
Kensho
- 100% vegan
- 16511 Magnolia St, Westminster, CA 92683
- Menu
Kensho, I love you in ways I cannot describe. Before I was vegan, my biggest mental obstacle was the idea of giving up sushi. Little did I know, vegan sushi is amazing and is totally just as good, if not better, without the fish! Kensho is proof that anything can be veganized.
Note that they moved locations fairly recently to the new address above on Magnolia St. Also, they now have a 2nd location in Yorba Linda, if you find yourself out that way!
Below are some of my photos from my recent visits to Kensho. This is the Spider Roll:

Below we have the Spider Roll on the left, followed by the Spicy Tunaless Roll, and the Crunchy Cali Roll:

And in this one you can see the Don Roll on the left as well:

This one shows the Spider Roll on the left and the Yoga Fire Roll on the right:

Here are the Tunaless Hand Roll and the Shrimpless Hand Roll:

If you only eat at one restaurant in Orange County while you are visiting here, and you like sushi, then Kensho would be my #1 recommendation.
Cali Veggie Restaurant
- Has vegan options
- 15691 Brookhurst St, Westminster, CA 92683
- The menu is supposed to be here, but it appears to be just a list of their Yelp reviews.
I haven’t been to this one and I’m having trouble finding out much about it online, so I can’t tell you much about it, but some of my followers recommended that I include it. If you check it out, I’d be interested in any photos/reviews you have!

The Nashville Hot Chicken:

The Fish Filet Sandwich:

The Boogie Fries (similar to In N Out animal style fries, but of course better, and vegan!):

- Menu
Chicana Vegana started out as a food truck at festivals, and now it has a permanent restaurant location in Fullterton!
They have tacos, burritos, nachos, burgers, desserts, etc. The food is spectacular — so much so that this is where I chose for my birthday meal this year! We got a bunch of tacos, loaded fries, and a tres leches cake. Their tres leches cake is not to be missed!! You can get an individual piece of it, along with cupcakes and other desserts, and you can also order ahead to get an entire tres leches cake for a special occasion, which is what I did for my birthday!
The full-size tres leches cake (make sure to order ahead of time):

And an individual piece of the tres leches cake, which you can buy from their dessert case as long as they have it in stock that day:

One of each of the tacos, from left to right: carne asada, shrimp, carnitas, and al pastor:

My favorites of these are the al pastor and the shrimp, so the next time I went, I got two of each of those for my birthday dinner:

The Cali Burrito with carne asada:

The Chili Burger:

Signature fries with al pastor:

At the new South Coast Plaza location, I got the Warm Cauliflower Salad recently and it was phenomenal. Their photo on Instagram of it is much prettier than the one I took, so here is theirs:
I also got the Banana Pudding that day, which was super decadent and tasty!
The Walnut Chorizo Enchiladas are a fan favorite:
I also had the Beets Me Burger recently and oh man, that is a great burger. Definitely recommend:

This is one of those OG vegan chains that is still one of the best, even with all of the new vegan restaurants that have appeared since! The Native Foods in Westwood near UCLA was the first vegan restaurant I ever went to and I still remember how life-changing it was back in 2004!
They’re known for their epic burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. They run really creative and fun specials all the time in addition to the regular menu.
Here a special this March, the Pastrami Burger:
Cauliflower Chickpea Schwarma Bowl, and the same as a Wrap:
Lots of fun desserts too, like these Oatmeal Creme Pies:

This donut shop right next to Seabirds has a great selection of vegan donuts! I’ve been there quite a few times, usually before or after a visit to Seabirds, and more recently when visiting the new zero waste shop, Eco Now, which you should definitely check out if you’re in the LAB!
My current favorite donut at Good Town is the Raspberry Pistachio:

Below is a look at the case with all the options from that day! Quite extensive.

For lunch and dinner, they have sandwiches, burgers, paninis, pizzas, pastas, soups, and salads. My personal favorite is the Potato Pizza with golden potato, fresh rosemary, vegan feta cheese, creamy white sauce.

This is perhaps the largest vegan restaurant chain, and it has lots of locations in Southern California — the closest ones to Disneyland are the ones I listed above.
This place is such a classic! Sometimes it’s a bit hit or miss, but my favorite tried-and-true dishes are below.
The Mondo Nachos are always epic. You can also get them on a bed of fries instead of chips.
The Santa Fe Crispy Chick’n Sandwich and the Buffalo Wings are also among my favorites.
Their burgers, made with Beyond Meat and then with various toppings for different versions, always hit the spot as well.

This place has deli sandwiches, and about 1/3 of them are vegan or can be made vegan. I haven’t been yet, but @missaliciam recommended it to me and said that their vegan sandwiches are great! Her favorites are the Handsome Owl (Vegan breaded chicken, teriyaki, vegan wasabi mayo and vegan cheese) and the Green Goblin (vegan turkey, vegan cheese, BBQ sauce), of course ordered vegan style.
Here are some examples of other sandwiches — just make sure to specify vegan cheese and mayo:

They also have a little market with some vegan speciality items:

Long Beach
Seabirds
- 100% vegan
- Long Beach location (see above section on Costa Mesa for those other locations):
- 975 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90802
- Menu
I think there are slight differences between the menus at this Long Beach location vs. the Costa Mesa locations, but they’re not listed as separate menus on the website. I have been to both of the Costa Mesa locations, but not to the Long Beach one yet. But both of the Costa Mesa locations are phenomenal, so I imagine that it is every bit as delicious over in Long Beach as well!
This is one of the specials the have at the Long Beach location:

I had some tacos with several of their plant-based meats (al pastor, asada, chick’n, carnitas, chorizo, mushroom, cactus) with some horchata and they were all delicious! Also, the mole torta pictured below!

Baked Vegan Sweets
- 100% vegan
- 718 Orange Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
- Menu
Baked Vegan Sweets now has a permanent brick-and-mortar location after having been a pop-up at vegan festivals for many years! What a treat to be able to get their treats on the regular now!
See their website menu above for everything that they’re currently making – they make cakes (custom cakes for special occasions as well) and have cake slices in the bakery case during regular hours, as well as macarons, cake pops, pop tarst, cupcakes, brownies, and lots of other goodies!
Vegan macarons are quite hard to find, so this is quite a gem! I try to go at least once a week to get some macarons and whatever other things look good in the case. On Sundays they also do brunch with a bunch of savory items!
Here is what I got most recently, a Strawberry Cupcake, a Pistachio Macaron, and a Birthday Cake Macaron:

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake is also to die for:

And here are some more macarons, birthday cake and lavender:

The pictures below were from when we were more in a take-out phase of the pandemic, which is why they are in take-out boxes, but I think if you go now, they come served on proper plates.
Their honey walnut shrimp was beyond words amazing:

Dan Dan noodles, so decadent and satisfying!!
Fried Oyster Mushrooms, also ridiculously delicious:

Also had to get the mozzarella sticks, which are made by @nodohbrand! 🧀 You may have had these at a vegan festival before, or at other restaurants around here such as @niceguysvegan, @thehealthyjunk, @chicanavegana, @beleafburgers, etc.! These mozzarella sticks have a legendary reputation for a reason!! 🤤 You can also buy tubs of Nodoh’s vegan butter and marinara sauce from the refrigerated case.
@ben.imagine had the lasagna, which he said was spectacular as well!
Below you can see the marketplace items they have inside the café – it’s like a mini vegan festival in here! Vegan apparel by @iapparel, candles by @nohocandleco, CBD oil by @nohicbd, etc.!

There are so many great vegan Vietnamese restaurants in Orange County, and this is one of them! They have quite a few raw dishes as well.
Here are some photos from last time I went. This is the Royal Noodle Soup, which was super delicious:

This is one of their raw dishes, the Green Pyramid (Soaked wild rice, coconut, corn and zucchini mixed with fresh basil and pesto sauce. Paired with dulse and crisp flax chips):

The menu is really quite extensive, so I can’t speak to the dozens of other dishes on the menu, but these were both super tasty.

The Donuttery

They have a wide assortment of vegan donuts. I’m still in shock that I live within driving distance of a 24 hour donut shop that always has at least 10 types of vegan donuts on hand, it’s pretty mind-blowing.
They also have a truck that goes to the various vegan festivals around here. Below is a Chocolate Chip Bar that I got at Vegan Exchange:

By the way, their Instagram isn’t very active, and I’ve heard that they’re closed until mid-April, so please be sure to call them and double check that they’re open before going (714.969.9500).
Newport Beach
Gracias Madre
- 100% vegan
- 1617 Westcliff Dr Ste 112, Newport Beach, CA 92260

After having been to the locations of Gracias Madre in LA and San Francisco before, I finally made it to the Orange County location recently! It’s more on the fine-dining side — a bit pricy, but also quite fancy. We had a large group of people so we were able to try lots of different things!
Chorizo Nachos:

Tacos with different kids of their housemade vegan proteins:

Burrito Bowl:
Pozole:
Enchiladas Verdes:

Pineapple Upside Down Cake:

Fudge Brownie:

Guava Cheesecake:

Honestly it is hard to choose just one thing to recommend over the others, it was all just so good. It will depend on your tastes and what calls out to you from the pictures. It is such a beautiful restaurant, good vibes, a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
